I was curious about some of the things the ghosts say when Alex first encounters them in the caves, so I did a little digging around on the subject to see if it could possibly be relevant. In addition to being a type of cat, the word "bobtail" can be used to refer to anything that is cut off shortly or curtailed. A "Shavetail" is either slang for an inexperienced military officer or an unguided rocket missile from the '50s, and "Sleepytime Gal" was a 1942 comedy film. I'm not quite sure what the movie would have to do with anything, aside from being from the right time period, but "Bobtail" could easily refer to the ghost's belief that their time was cut short and Shavetail seems like it could either be a reference to Maggie or possibly to Alex. Thoughts? Edit: Link Formatting Edit 2: Some more digging has also popped up a number of 1930-1950 versions of a song called Sleepytime Gal, notably by Glenn Millerfrom 1937. "The Shavetail" is the title of a 1919 book from the Officer Training School in Georgia (Which is probably not all that relevant, but it may be.) The term is also historically used most frequently to refer to second lieutenants. (Again, probably not relevant.) |
흠... 그렇다네요
