Hello Yuri & Tusus,

Basically, what I'm trying to do here is make a list of all Korean memes that are used in the chat during Yuri's stream.

Once you see the list, it should make more sense.

This is for the better understanding of specific situations for not only Tusus but also Yuri (so she would know what's going on when she sees the same word over and over on the chat within a short period of time).

If there is anything that should be added, please leave a comment so that I can take a look at it and add it to the list.

You may simply add the word in Korean, or you may add the word in Korean and add the explanation as well.

Please keep in mind that these memes are SPECIFICALLY for Yuri's stream, frequently appear in the chat and do not include all of Korean memes that have ever existed. Please keep in mind when you leave a comment as well~

The memes are in the order of 가나다.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- 주 (Gall-Joo)

갤주 is used when referring to Yuri

The word Gall is derived from Gallery, the word that refers to a forum/bulletin board (or if you are familiar with Reddit, a Subreddit) in a Korean Reddit-like website, DCInside (they have different galleries such as baseball gallery, soccer gallery, BTS gallery, etc).

The word 주 is derived from 주인, which means the host.

So combining the two, 갤주 refers to the host of the gallery, which is Yuri in our case.

- 국룰 (Guk-rule)

국룰 is used when Yuri is eating or doing something, and that something HAS to be done in a certain way.

국 is derived from 국가. Same word as 國, which means a country.

룰 is derived from the English word, rule.

So combining the two, 국룰 means the national rule. It's a meme that "requires people to do certain things in certain ways because it's the norm."

- 그립읍니다 (Gu-rip-eup-ni-da)

그립읍니다 is used & rather spammed, as soon as Yuri ends the stream. 그립읍니다 means "we miss you."

The grammatically correct form of the word is 그립니다, as 읍니다 was reformed to 습니다 in 1989 as it better represents the pronunciation. But as a meme, 읍니다 is used instead because 1. it's a meme, and 2. it holds the sense of past (the stream was over and it's something that happened in the past).

Another one that's used is 벌써 (bul-ssuh) 그립읍니다. 벌써 그립읍니다 means "we already miss you."

- 또멀러/또를 만나 (Ddo-mele/Ddo-reul-man-na)

또멀러/또를 만나 is used when Yuri sings Eric Zhou's Zenmele or Paul Kim's Me After You.

This is because those are the songs that Yuri sings nearly everyday.

또 means again, and adding 또 in front of a word is a Korean meme that refers to the situation that happens over and over.

- 스까 (s-gga)

스까 is used when Yuri mixes a bunch of food together to eat.

The grammatically correct form of the word is 섞어 (suk-ugh), but 스까 is used as a meme instead.

That's because there is a joke in Korea that people in Busan like to mix food together before eating,

and 스까 is how you say 섞어 in Busan.

- 엄크 (Um-K)

엄크 is used when Yuri's mom enters the room/stream.

엄 is derived from the word 엄마, which means mother.

크 is derived from the English word gank/ganked, the term used in MMORPGs.

Combining the two, 엄크 means ganked by mom.

- 유또+word (You-ddo)

Similar to 또멀러/또를 만나, 유또 is used when Yuri does something again (usually she makes the same mistake).

Below are some of the examples:

유또편 (You-ddo-pyun): Yuri goes to a convenience store again.

유또흘 (You-ddo-heul): Yuri spills something on her shirt again.

유또떨 (You-ddo-ddul): Yuri drops something again.

- 의하 (eui-ha)

의하 is used when Yuri leaves, most frequently when she goes to have dinner with the family.

의 is derived from the word 의자, which means chair.

하 is derived from the word 하이, which means hi (just like it sounds).

Combining the two, 의하 means hi, chair (in other words, there is no streamer but the chair).

- 준비된 스트리머 (jun-bee-dwen-streamer)

준비된 스트리머 is used when Yuri is NOT ready (game settings, wheels settings, etc).

준비된 스트리머 means a streamer who is ready, so it's a sarcastic joke.

- 포상 (po-sang)

(This one is a bit harder to explain)

포상 is used when Yuri does something unusual & extreme using her body towards Tusus (ex. cursing, burping, licking elbow, really bad singing, foot clap, etc).

포상 means rewarding. So when it comes to the meme, it means Tusus are rewarded by getting to see Yuri's most secretive side. It's also a joke that comes off of how several female streamers do squats and sexy dances in order to "reward the Tusus". Kind of a satire in a way too.
